16.12.2021

On 1 January 2022, Pia Guggenbühl will become the new Head of Public Affairs and Communications and a member of the Management Board of scienceindustries. "We're delighted to have gained a distinguished public affairs and communications expert in Pia Guggenbühl", says Dr Stephan Mumenthaler, Director of scienceindustries. She succeeds Marcel Sennhauser, who is leaving the association after 12 years. scienceindustries would like to thank him for his tremendous commitment, in particular for expanding interest representation and publicity, starting with the renaming of SGCI Chemistry Pharma Switzerland to scienceindustries, the interim management of the office in spring 2018, the establishment of the SimplyScience Foundation and the Education Research Innovation Parliamentary Group PG ERI as well as Tox Info Suisse.

Pia Guggenbühl, 43 years old, holds a master’s degree in political and communication sciences from the University of Zurich. She has around 20 years of experience in communications and the representation of the interests of companies, associations and other organisations. Most recently, as Head of Public Affairs at a major energy and infrastructure services company, she was responsible for representing the political interests of the group as a whole. As the former head of communications for FDP Switzerland and as a municipal councillor of Küsnacht (ZH), she is also very familiar with political work at various political levels.

Pia Guggenbühl is no stranger to scienceindustries: as an external consultant and project manager, from 2007 to 2008 she was responsible for the design, development and launch of the association's young talent initiative and today’s SimplyScience Foundation. The Foundation's aim is to promote an understanding of science and technology among children and young people.
