Maik is the inventor of the methane inhibitor 3-NOP (Bovaer®) and heading the R&D program for the project “Clean Cow”. As chemist by training with a background in molecular biology he is working with his team to bring cutting edge technology into the animal nutrition and health sector with a special focus on sustainability topics.
Bringing an entrepreneurial spirit as a co-founder of a biotech company in Switzerland, he also worked as a Senior Scientist at Sanofi-Aventis (structural biology) prior to join DSM and project “Clean-Cow”. He holds a PhD in Chemistry and a post-doctoral degree from the ETH Lausanne in chemical biology.
